Vintage Enamel Rose Jewelry and Hearts

Enamel and Guilloche' roses were popular throughout the 20th century and before. Many of these pieces are from the 1940's - 1950's.
Pastel hand painted enamel was applied over smooth or machine engraved decorative metal. The translucent enamel is accented by the metal design underneath which adds dimension and interest.
Coro and Elgin, ESPO and Vargas were companies
which produced a lot of these designs.

Confused by Sterling vs. Sterling vermeil? All of our cigar band rings are vintage sterling rings by Vargas or ESPO but some have a golden vermeil finish on top of the sterling. Sterling ring by Vargas has a pale golden soft vermeil finish and will go nicely with either sterling or golden rings. View from the side. Vermeil is a light, real gold wash over sterling. For small hands, this size 5 ESPO sterling ring has the palest of gold vermeil and will suit a lady who wears gold or silver. The gold is so mellow that it is hard to notice. View from the side. Sterling ring by Vargas has soft pastel hand painted roses. This ring is a size 7 and it fits very nicely on my size 6.5 ring finger since the extra wide width feels better with a slightly larger than normal size ring. Tapers nicely at the back. View from the side. Order "ER-ring046-7," SOLD.

Enamel Rose Bracelets, Watches

12K gold filled charm bracelet with oval guilloche locket charm. We don't believe the charm is gold filled since it is not marked like the bracelet. Bracelet is marked and measures 7 1/4 inches long. We feel this watch dates somewhere from the 1930's to the early 1950's. No markings on the band. Enamel Rose Pins, Clips, Lockets

Most romantic rose enamel heart pin dangles from a sweet enamel bow pin back. Another view. Has a clear crystal compartment in back to hold a fave photo. View back. You may need your jeweler to unscrew the watch crystal back as I can't seem to get it open. (We have these darling style photo holders before so we know they open.) Gorgeous and substantial sterling guilloche' pin is quite old and probably European with it's beautiful attention to detail. Measures 1 3/8 inches wide. Another view here. Has elongated pin stem and excellent "C" clasp which leads us to believe it is probably Scandinavian in origin. Marked 925 and either SK or K5. View the back. Probably dates to the 1920's. Beautiful hand painted guilloche rose disk is suspended from a1 1/8th inch wide enamel bow in soft yellow. Overall, this pin with keepsake memento locket dangles 2 3/8 inches long. Watch crystal that used to cover the back is missing. Your jeweler can install one over your memento (lock of hair, good luck charm or even a photo) or you can wear this as is by simply pressing in a photo and covering with a piee of plastic. Romantic black hand painted heart pin is rimmed with rhinestones. I believe this heart is reverse painted on glass rather than enamel on metal. nicely sized at 1 3/16inches tall. Hand painted, guilloche' oval pin from the 1960's is very pretty but has a tiny manufacturing flaw. Note the speck underneath the protective coat of clear lacquer at 10 o'clock. Hand painted and signed by the artist, this pretty pink roses pin is set into a bamboo like setting. I believe the signature is P Kelly. The porcelain tile on which the roses are painted is somewhat sloppily glued into the frame but this can only be seen from the reverse side. The front is lovely. View the back here. I am not sure if this hand painted Russian folk pin is papier mache or a light wood but the floral paintings on rich black enamel are wonderful! Enamel Rose Necklaces, Lockets, and Pendants

Gold filled sterling vermeil black enamel with rose pendant by Wells Sterling is marked on the chain as well as the pendant. Chain measures 18 inches long. Enamel Rose Earrings

Round black earrings surrounded with clear rhinestones hold a center guilloche' plate with a pink enamel rose. Petitie and oh, so Fifties, these little beauties each measure about 9/16th inch or about 15mm. Screw backs are very comfortable. You won't even know you have them on! Order "ER-118blkear," $28.00. Enamel Rose Vanity Items

Guilloche' perfume bottle from the 1950's is about 2 inches tall including the cap. Metal bottle is in very nice condition but the lid has a few spots from perfume leakage. You can still smell the fragrance inside the bottle. View the back. Nice addition to your vanity table. Well made, porcelain pill box is heavy and has a strong hinge making it safe to carry in your purse for medications. Transfer painting on top depicts what we believe is a blue large morning glory and several smaller orange and yellow flowers. View the pretty bouquet from the top. Measures 1 7/8 inches long. Nice! Signed "Evans" guilloche' rose compact measures 2 1/2 inches square. Intricate engine turned casing with pretty hand painted enameling. There is one very tiny rough spot on the edge of the white enamel that isn't even visible in the photos but it can be seen upon close inspection. The mirror has a crack in the bottom left corner. I have marked the photo with a red arrow. The doeskin powder holder is intact but there is no puff. View the compact open with powder compartment. From the late 1940's, this black enamel compact has a palest green guilloche' enamel center with hand painted rose. Another view. Made of brass, there is normal wear for a purse item if this age both inside and outside. Mirror is a little foggy and puff is missing. View compact open.
